Our painting holidays offer the opportunity to explore the magical ‘Island of Peace and Friendship’, while learning a new skill or improving your painting technique in the company of a friendly group of people with shared interests and a mutual love of Halki and Greece.
October 9th – 16th, 2024
Join Kevin Scully for a week’s painting on the tranquil Greek island of Halki. After a flight to nearby Rhodes, you will be met by a representative of Nissia Holidays and travel by ferry to Halki. From here you will be escorted the short distance to your accommodation close to the waterfront of Emborio, where restored neoclassical villas bathed in Mediterranean hues line the horseshoe-shaped harbour, rising up like an amphitheatre.
Halki is a magical place. Wander through flower-lined alleyways, past picturesque villas and tumbledown mansions, enjoying the delicious smells of home cooking wafting from the windows; pull up a chair in one of the tavernas or cafes to feast on local fare, such as Halki’s famed pasta dish; explore the Church of St Nicholas, patron saint of the island; or slip into the shimmering waters to swim amongst the fishing boats.
Breakfast may be taken at your accommodation, or at one of the many nearby cafes.
Each evening you will dine at some of Halki’s excellent tavernas.
When you are not painting in Emborio, you will leave our accommodation at about 10am each day and travel to a variety of inspiring painting locations, including one day spent at the Panormitis Monastery with its breathtaking views across the Aegean Sea. You will also paint at the abandoned town of Chorio, once the island’s largest settlement, which invites exploration of its atmospheric and crumbling, tumbledown houses.
There will be one free day for people to do as they please; go swimming at one of the island’s beaches, continue painting, or even take a ferry to the deserted, nearby island of Alimia.

Hi, I’m really interested in joining you this October for a painting holiday. I have a couple of questions, what medium do you use? My partner would want to come but he doesn’t paint, could you give me a price for the two of us. How big is your class?
Many thank
Pauline
Hello Pauline, we have sent you an e-mail with all details. Let me know if I can be of further help.
Hello Kevin. Barbara Grundy and I are keen to join you in Halki in October, but it looks on the website as if bedrooms are shared. We’re happy to share a villa but prefer single bedrooms. Please advise.
Many thanks.
